What Is QSART Testing?
Quantitative Sudomotor Axon Reflex Testing (QSART) measures how well the small nerve fibers that control sweating are functioning. It is often performed alongside Tilt Table Testing to provide a more complete evaluation of autonomic nervous system function, particularly for patients with suspected small fiber neuropathy or POTS.
During QSART, small sensor pads are placed on the skin at several sites on the arms and legs. A mild electrical stimulus prompts a localized sweat response, which is measured and recorded. The test typically takes 15 minutes and is generally well tolerated, though patients may feel a light tingling sensation at each sensor site.
What to Expect During the Test
The procedure typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes and is completely safe. While you lie on a motorized table, we’ll monitor your vital signs as the table tilts from horizontal to vertical. Dr. Cohen personally reviews your results and discusses a clear plan based on your findings.
